On Stress
Stress afflicts every person and sentient being. Research into the effect
of stress on humans and some animals has revealed its vast significance to
our state of health. Stress affects our work, play, relationships, and our
health. Monday mornings in the U.S. for example, are known to have more heart
attacks than in all the other days combined. The cause is attributed to stress.
We spend Billion of Dollars yearly on medical treatments of many ailments
(including terminal) that are attributed to the effect of stress. Physically,
we react to stressors through the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis
system. This mechanism keeps us vibrant and alive and protects us in emergencies,
but if it becomes over active it can lead to many diseases.
Stress, in terms of an Energy model, is the difference between NOW and where
you want to be. It is the disease of the competent person. Those are the people
who have goals and ambitions, plans and milestones, people that want their
lives to be meaningful in some ways. People that are not completely satisfied
with the mundane or the status quo. These qualities of a person are appreciated
in our society and we teach them to our young at all ages. It has made possible
all the accomplishments of our Western civilization. The cost however, is
Stress. Stress is an ailment of the Spirit, not the Mind or the Body. That
is why the medical model cannot detect its essence. The Quantum Reflections ("QR") model can explain stress using
our whole being: Mind/Body/Spirit. Understanding the phenomenon can help us
better manage our life in a way that will allow us to experience our full
potential without accumulating stress and increase risk of diseases.
You can work hard without becoming "workoholic", you can plan your life
without becoming compulsive, and you can be active and strive to reach your
goals without the guilt. It is not how much you do, how much you plan, or
how high you set your goals to be, but rather it is about experiencing your
whole being and living at the NOW. Since stress is the distance between where
you are NOW and where you want to be, living in the NOW wouldn't stress you
no matter what.
