Well, I see that I have almost missed the month of June with these updates.
Wendy and I have found a place of our own and will be moving in next weekend. We are both still working our various hours. Last weekend (over Father’s Day weekend) I spent two days playing with the granddaughters. We made a trip to the coast to visit the Marine Science Center, have a picnic and just generally play on the beach. The weather here in the Valley was very clear and warm. By the time we got to the coast, the weather there was overcast (not the dark overcast of rain storms but lots of clouds) and VERY Windy. Of course we had dressed for the warm weather of the Valley. One of the girls had worn jeans and a long sleeved shirt, one had thought to bring a light weight jacket but the third was in shorts and tank top. We thought we were going to blow away when we got out of the car.
Suffice it to say that it was so cold in the wind that the girls decided to picnic by eating lunch in the car while parked and looking at the water. After lunch we drove a little bit north along the coast and visited the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. The three girls climbed all the way to the top and listened to the history of the lighthouse from the person at the top. When they came down we did meander down to the tide pools briefly. The beach was deeply covered in cobble stones which made for rough walking.  The girls decided that it was time to go back to the car and we got home about 7:00 that night.
On Saturday we made a quick trip to the McDowell Creek Falls and hiked up to the top. That took about three hours of the day. When we got back to Albany, I took the girls over to the park near the house and let them ride bikes and play in the sand, building sand castles for another 3 hours.
I guess that is it for right now. Will try to update again soon.

I guess I was too wound up in my new part-time job. In addition to subbing for the Corvallis School District, I have been referred to one of the State agencies in Salem. I am working 3 days a week as an administrative assistant and loving every minute of it. The work is new and varied enough to keep me interested and slightly challenged. I am booked to grade papers at the Alternative High School on Friday until the end of the school year, that plus the three days a week in Salem means I am working pretty steady at the moment.
We are now looking for a place of our own to rent. Won’t be a big place but we need at least two bedrooms and room for the family heirlooms. Will keep everyone posted.
In the meantime, I hope everyone had a good Easter and is planning a nice Mother’s Day. Only a week to go. I understand we are going out to brunch at a truly unique restaurant here in Albany. The chef is amazing. Will try to remember to provide all the details.

March 27th, 2008
Well, I have managed to find some part time work finally. I have been subbing for the school system here, part time as an Educational Assistant and occasionally as a secretary. Also, I had an interview yesterday for a very interesting job. If everything pans out I will be working three days per week in Salem. A 30 mil commute but the job will be great!
Wendy is still working pretty close to full time so we are starting to put together the funds for a place of our own.
We actually had some snow mixed into the rain here yesterday. It was raining very hard and suddenly there were the big white flakes mixed in. Still pretty cold out there….only about 36 degrees at the moment. For late March this is very weird weather for the Willamette Valley.

Here it is the first part of March. Easter is early this year. I hope everyone is ready.
I had three interviews last week, two of them chose another candidate, the third is still reviewing. Had another interview yesterday. Early in the process for this one so won’t know for a while. Still looking. Wendy is working almost full time with all the call in days she is getting. That is good. Now to start looking for a place of our own.

We did see the lunar eclipse Wednesday night. It was great. Starting about 7:00 p.m. we stepped into the back yard and watched the growing cover on the moon, it was kind of dark across an orange colored moon. Later when we checked back it was starting to uncover, by then the moon had moved higher in the sky and was a clear sharp white with a definite black shade on it. I tried to get some pictures but my digital camera had dead batteries. I have tried with the video camera but still need to download what I did manage to get. Will post them if they turned out at all.
I have two interviews for work next week so I hope everyone thinks good thoughts the last half of next week.
Not sure what is going on with this blog. I have tried to change the presentation of the blog and it seems to automatically go back to the default picture instead of letting me choose what I want to show.

Wow, it has been a month since I last posted. No real change in the job area. I am still applying and interviewing.
The weather here has been absolutely gorgeous for the past week…until yesterday and today when it clouded up again. Rain is in the forecast for the rest of the week so it is very doubtful that we will be able to see tonight’s lunar eclipse. If there is a break in the cloud cover I will be sure to post tomorrow and let everyone know. In the meantime, no sense in holding your breath. I don’t want anyone turning blue from suspense.
We took a short trip to Olympia last weekend, really enjoyed our visit with our friend up there. It has been about 8 months since we saw her last. Her little calico cat is not so little anymore and really knows who rules in that household.
I have finished putting together the cookbook. Now I am trying to decide on a title for it. If you have suggestions for a title, please post here or email me. I would really like to get it published by Easter.

My sister has been kept on at Target. I just had two interviews this week. Hoping that at least one of them returns a favorable answer… The oldest son is still in Port Angeles looking for work there. If you see him, say “Hello”.
The granddaughters are looking forward to a visit this weekend with some out of town friends who are coming in. It is cold here but at least the rain seems to have slowed down this week…although, I overheard my daughter-in-law say something about there might be snow on Sunday….that may have been a reference to the friends who are driving south over the pass to California this weekend. There could definitely be snow there.
Our friend Grimm has finished his first full week at Lowes Distribution Center and seems to be enjoying it as a change from his last job. At least he is on days now instead of working nights. We may be meeting tomorrow for coffee.
I am still working on the cookbook. I have some graphics and clip art that I put in it but to make the cost of the printing reasonable I have to go thru and make all the art work be black and white instead of color. It could save up to $10.00 per book for printing. Will let you know here when it is ready to be ordered.

Just a brief update from Oregon. Wendy has been asked to stay on at Target. I am still applying for work at various places.
We hope everyone has a wonderful New Year holiday. If you are going to a party on New Year’s Eve, please drive safely on your way home. Talk to everyone after the New Year.
